Rainforests in Australia?

About Rainforests...

Rainforests are characterized simply as forests with very tall trees, a warm climate and lots and lots of rain each year (or day!).  There are many throughout the world including the ones in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and of course...Australia!

They are also known to hold a very high amount of animals, plants, fungi and other living organisms.  This is usually known as...Biodiversity.

Biodiversity is the degree of variation of life forms within a given species, ecosystem, biome, or planet. (taken from Wikipedia..I know..I'm sorry)

Rainforests exist in Australia!?

Yes, they are some of the smallest (compared to the other rainforests of the world) and amazingly contain more than half of Australia's terrestrial plant and animal species.  The Gondwana rainforests (as they are called) are some of the oldest in the world and have many species of plants and animals that have unchanged for millions of years.  For this reason Australia’s rainforests provide scientists a wonderful look into Earth’s evolutionary history.
